Brown and furry
Caterpillar in a hurry,

To the shady leaf, or stalk,

Which may be the chosen spot.
No toad spy you,
Hovering bird of prey pass by you;
Spin and die,
To live again a butterfly.

Braun im Stachelfell
Raupe gleitet schnell.
Finde nur dein Ziel
am Schattenblatt, auf schwankem Stiel,
hin oder her,
wo dein Fleckchen immer wär.
Keine Kröte soll dich spähen.
Flieg vorüber, Gier der Krähen.
Spinn dich ein, ein totes Ding,
lebe neu, ein Schmetterling.
